Norma Walker, age 85 of Copperas Cove, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2019, in Dallas. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 28, 2019, at First Baptist Church in Copperas Cove, with Dr. Mark Kemp officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery in Kempner. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at the church.
Norma was born on February 17, 1934, in Killeen, to the late Arvel Barnes and Amilee Bass Barnes. She grew up in Killeen and graduated from Killeen High School in 1951. The following year Norma graduated from Nixon Clay Business College in Austin and began working at First National Bank of Killeen.
Norma married Lonnie Bee Walker in 1956, and the couple resided in Copperas Cove. Soon after the birth of their daughter, Paula Leah, in 1969, Norma became a stay at home mother and also helped with her husband’s home-based business.
Norma was a member of First Baptist Church of Copperas Cove, where she taught Sunday School and volunteered for the International program. Additionally, Norma was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, a women’s sorority and service organization, where she was involved with many civic activities.
Norma was devoted to her family and loved helping and spending time with them. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a loving heart, and a warm smile. Norma was a loyal friend, a great listener, and a kind soul. She will be greatly missed by many, who consider themselves blessed to have had her in their lives.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Arvel and Amilee Barnes, her husband, Lonnie Walker, and her sister, Dorothy Davis.
She is survived by a daughter, Paula, and husband, Jason Stollings; grandsons, Grant and Zachary Stollings; and sister, JoAnn White, as well as a number of loving extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Faith Presbyterian Hospice or First Baptist Church of Copperas Cove.
